B:Logic Work Based Learning Programme

B:Logic is a work based learning programme that consists of activities including music and radio production workshops, employability skills sessions (interview techniques, C.V. writing, presentation skills etc.), personal development and mentoring. Participants have the chance to obtain City and Guilds qualifications in Literacy and Music Production at Level 1 or 2. The 2 programmes will:

B Logic - Main

B: Logic 16 – 18 year olds

  • YP from Hammersmith, Ealing, Harrow and Brent ONLY
  • 16 – 18 years
  • NEET – Not in Education, Employment or Training
  • Previous education – should be at Entry Level 3 or Level 1. GCSE’s D and below or no GCSE’s
  • YP need to have I.D. – Passport/ birth cert

    • Course information

    Start Date: October 2009
    Duration: 12 – 24 weeks/ 16 hours per week

  • Music/ Radio/ Basic Skills/ Literacy and employability qualifications and skills can be achieved
  • Receive £30 a week EMA if entitled and up to £100 bonus depending on attendance and punctuality
  • Bring a friend and if you both complete you get £50 CASH

    • B:Logic 14 – 16 year olds

  • Brent and Harrow Young People – ONLY

  • 14 – 16 yrs At risk of being excluded from school. Maybe in alternative education

    • Course information

    Duration: 12 weeks / 1 day a week

  • Radio and basic skills

    • All B: Logic programmes will:

  • Have YP sitting an initial assessment in Numeracy and English and attend an interview if they meet the criteria
  • Help with personal development
  • Include relevant staff liaising with young person’s parent/guardian/ key worker/ Connexions PA/ Social worker etc
  • Possibly be put on work experience
  • Get practical hands on experience
  • Be in a safe secure learning environment
  • Be delivered by professionals
  • Have guest speaker

    Drop in is a service offered by BANG to all young people 13-19 year olds, living in Brent and who become registered members with us. We offer a positive and professional learning environment staffed by adults and other young people. At Drop In we offer professional music recording facilities, including a booth and the opportunity to learn and build on your music production and performance skills. You may even get the chance to have your music played on our radio station, BANG, 103.6fm (www.bangradio.fm). We also have open days where you will have the chance to perform to a small audience.

    Our Drop In service also gives you a safe place to come and use the internet and receive information, advice and guidance from a Connexions PA. Registration is just £10 for one year and free to those who introduce 3 new members to Drop In.

    We are open Mon: 5-9pm, Tues: 4-9pm and Wed 5-9pm
